Small Ship Advantage:

Lindblad operates a fleet of small, nimble expedition ships that can navigate through narrow channels and reach remote locations inaccessible to larger vessels. This results in more intimate encounters with wildlife and landscapes, creating a sense of exclusivity and connection to nature. Small ship cruising also allows for a personalised and flexible itinerary, adapting to weather conditions and unexpected wildlife sightings.

The right tools for exploration

Lindblad's ships are equipped with incredible tools for exploration, which provide inspiring, up-close encounters with wildlife and wild, remote regions. At the heart of the expedition experience are the Zodiacs that enable you to land on remote shores far from any infrastructure. Single and tandem kayaks offer up-close encounters with wildness while Stand-up Paddleboards give travellers the option to circumnavigate a tiny uninhabited island, explore mangroves, or paddle along an idyllic beach.

Ships that sail to places suitable for snorkeling are outfitted with complete snorkelling gear, while experienced divers may have a chance to dive in the Galápagos and the Central/South Pacific. And on some cruises remotely operated vehicles can dive to depths of up to 1,000 feet to shoot video of places few have seen.

Select expeditions sail with glass-bottom boats or a naturalist may lower a microphone into the sea while whales are feeding, allowing the rare opportunity to hear them communicating in real time.

Ice-class vessels are outfitted with a camera mounted on the very top of the ship’s mast while Undersea Bow Cam Video cameras mounted just below the waterline on some ships provide a window on the undersea at all times and give an up-close look at dolphins who commonly ride the bow wake as the ships traverse the water.

Video Microscopes meanwhile display microscopic undersea images on the plasma screen monitors in the lounge, allowing all guests to follow the naturalist’s discussion simultaneously.
