I received an email from a tour company in Newfoundland today and the tone is one of superb excitement. After a long closure due to COVID19, the province is reopening on July 1st!
Says my colleague in Newfoundland: "...This means that you can visit Newfoundland and Labrador this summer!!! (I can hardly believe I am writing these words!)".
The "Together Again Plan" (how I love that name!) envisions to reopen the province in three stages:
Stage 1. July 1, 2021 or 75% of people in Newfoundland & Labrador have received at least one dose of vaccine.
- Fully vaccinated can travel to the province from Canada with no quarantine
- Single dose vaccinated can travel to the province from Canada without quarantine if they have a negative pre departure COVID-19 test or a negative test on arrival
- Unvaccinated can travel to the province from Canada but must isolate for 14 days on arrival
Stage 2. August 15, 2021 or 80% of people in Newfoundland & Labrador have received at least one dose of vaccine and 50% are fully vaccinated.
- Fully or single dose vaccinated can travel to the province from Canada with no quarantine - Unvaccinated can travel to the province from Canada but must isolate and undergo COVID-19 testing for release
Stage 3. September 15, 2021 or 80% of people in Newfoundland & Labrador have received at least one dose of vaccine and 80% are fully vaccinated.
- Fully or single dose vaccinated can travel to the province from Canada with no quarantine or testing requirements - Unvaccinated can travel to the province from Canada but must isolate until they receive a negative COVID-19 test result
Here at Adventure Coordinators I share in the excitement of my colleagues in Newfoundland & Labrador. This is the moment we have all been waiting for - a pivotal moment in getting to the end of the pandemic!
