Sri Lanka offers a rewarding mix of natural beauty, ancient history, and local culture, making it a fascinating destination for families. Starting in Negombo, we settle into island life before heading inland to explore the intricate Dambulla cave temples and climb the impressive rock fortress of Sigiriya. A countryside bike ride provides a close-up look at village life before continuing to Kandy, where we stroll through botanical gardens, visit a sacred Buddhist temple, and share a home-cooked dinner with a local family.

From there, we travel into the highlands for a scenic train journey to Bandarawela, taking time to walk through tea plantations and enjoy a leisurely lunch with locals. The journey then turns wilder with a safari in Udawalawe National Park, where elephants and other wildlife roam freely.

We continue to Galle Fort to learn about its colonial past before unwinding on the beaches of Mirissa, where we try kite flying and enjoy time to relax or explore the coast. Our final stop is Colombo, where the energy of the capital offers a fitting contrast to the quiet countryside we’ve come to know. Along the way, we connect with communities and deepen our understanding of Sri Lanka’s many layers.
